It has been close to 25 years since I have last been to Breezy Waterslides in Douglas, Massachusetts. My last memories of it were of me getting pulled out of the pool, quite embarrassed because I apparently looked like I was struggling. Fast forward to today, a totally different experience.
Though a holiday, the lines for the slides weren't too bad. They were just long enough to warm us up for the slides to feel refreshing. Boog was ready and rearing to go, and of course we picked #3 slide oblivious to the fact that it was a single, dark tube slide for 1/3 of the way. I was a little concerned that he wouldn't go on it once we got to the top. Especially because this was his FIRST WATERSLIDE EVER! But he did it like a trooper and didn't stop until 330 pm when we called it quits. It took Mudge about 2 hours before gathering the courage to go on #1 and once he did, he wanted to do it again and again, but only with me. Apparently, he didn't trust Daddy till the last two runs.
If you have never been here before, good luck finding it without a map or GPS. There are almost no signs until "You have reached your destination". It really is one of the areas best kept secrets, and I wonder if they want to keep it that way.
There is a concession stand but you can bring your own food and grill. The area is grassy with many picnic tables, but they did fill up today. There is a small sandy area for the lake access swimming and a sand play, but you are really there for the slides. It has been family owned and run since the 1950s and it is a really relaxed atmosphere for families. Just remember, there is no ATM and they only accept credit at the entrance. If you want to buy food, be prepared with cash. And don't forget the sunscreen and swimmies.
I actually didn't take any pictures today. Didn't have the time. We were having way too much fun going up and down the waterslides. But if you want to check it out for yourself, you can visit Breezy's website or call for 1-508-476-2664 more details. They are now open daily 9-6, with slides opening at 10. I think the boys will be asking to go back again...
